Since 1987, School Of Aviation Science & Technology (SAST) under the aegis of Delhi Flying club is providing professional Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course.  Since then it has had distinction of training of thousands of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. As on date many top level AMEs in various Airlines including Jet Airways and Foreign Airlines are alumni of SAST.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course of SAST has been approved by Director General Of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt. of India vide their letter 20-86/88-AI(2) dated 12th September, 1988, in both Mechanical and Avionics streams. Director General of Civil Aviation is a regulator and controls all the Civil Aviation Activities including Flight Crew and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering training in India.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is the choice of young aspirants who want to work on aircraft. This is a professional course and can be joined after passing 10+2 or equivalent qualification with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. The duration of course is three years.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) is a person duly licensed by Director General of Civil Aviation, Govt. Of India, who certifies the aircraft fit for flight after inspection, repair etc and also before each flight.

SAST is managed by Aviators. It’s President is Capt. Satish Sharma, Member of Parliament (RS) and ex Indian Airline’s Pilot, Vice President is also a Pilot currently flying Business Jet aircraft and Director of Training is ex Dy. DGCA.  Qualified Chief Instructor, Dy. Chief Instructor both approved by DGCA with a team of qualified, competent and skilled Instructors, conducts the training.

SAST has one Jet Aircraft (Lear Jet), One Cessna 152 and one Ralley aircraft for imparting practical training to students. The Hangar in which practical training is imparted is located at the Safdarjung airfield thus providing an environment similar to the Aircraft Operators.
